Sharing the American dream!
Individual wealth-creating activities are more important
than ever in our increasingly global economy. Unfortunately, access
to capital has been a persistent problem for any distressed communities.
Canaan Credit Union offers a self-help route to financial independence.
Together, members pool resources to provide federally insured lending,
investment, and financial services within our own community.
A facet of our economic empowerment provides a forum to coach community
members on financial and economic principles. Community-wide instruction
includes relevant topics such as building personal savings, living
happily on a budget, being a strategic consumer, and investment decision-making.
In the future, we will provide small business development counseling
services for budding entrepreneurs. This service will provide networking
opportunities, identify local resources, assist with market feasibility
studies, and business plan development.
One small step at a time, we can build the resources needed to participate
in and advance our nation’s economy.
